Supporting Young People (16+) to Thrive in a Diverse and Safe Environment
At Ascension Social Care, we are committed to empowering young people aged 16 and over to thrive as confident, independent individuals within their local community. Our supported accommodation in Edgware provides a nurturing environment that encourages personal development, independence, and meaningful integration into society.
Situated in a peaceful residential area close to shops, Edgware Community Hospital, recreational centres, and transport links, our home offers the ideal location for young people transitioning to adulthood. Edgware is recognised as one of London’s 35 major centres, known for its diversity, cultural richness, and accessibility—making it an ideal place for young people to build skills, access services, and engage with the wider community.
We support our young people in actively participating in community life by encouraging them to make use of local amenities, attend events, and build positive connections outside the home. This helps foster a sense of belonging, self-worth, and contribution.
Each young person’s cultural, religious, and linguistic identity is respected and supported. Whether through access to places of worship, language support, dietary considerations, or celebrating cultural festivals, we ensure young people feel seen, heard, and valued for who they are.
We promote equality and inclusivity at every level of our care. Staff receive regular training in diversity and are proactive in addressing discrimination of any kind, including issues related to race, gender, religion, sexual orientation (LGBTQ+), or additional needs. Through key working sessions and community involvement, we support our young people in understanding and embracing difference.
We encourage and support our young people to become responsible members of society—volunteering, joining clubs or youth groups, accessing education, and learning to navigate everyday life independently. These real-world experiences build confidence, life skills, and personal identity.
Young people are involved in shaping their journey through regular house meetings, key work sessions, suggestion boxes, and informal conversations. We listen to their feedback, adapt our support, and celebrate their successes, big or small.
